German MP is Demanding Answers About Biden's Role in Nord Stream Pipeline Explosions

"This is the most serious terrorist action against our critical infrastructure since the Second World War."

February 18, 2023

The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is demanding an investigation into the claims made by investigative journalist Seymour Hersh.

If the Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist's accusations that President Biden authorized a sabotage operation on the Nord Stream pipelines are found to be are true, then the German party wants the U.S. military to leave the country.

The AfD Co-chairman Tino Chrupalla said in the German Bundestag, “As the American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh claims to have learned from a source involved in the operational planning, the United States of America is said to have planned the demolition of Nord Stream and carried it out jointly with Norway.”

“The Pulitzer Prize winner’s suspicions must be investigated,” Chrupalla continued.

“Has NATO’s leading power carried out an attack on our country’s vital critical infrastructure in European waters?" he asked. "Then one would have to question whether the alliance guarantees security in Europe or rather endangers it. The consequence would be the withdrawal of all U.S. troops.”

"This is the most serious terrorist action against our critical infrastructure since the Second World War," he added.

Chrupalla also discussed the timing of the shutting off of Nord Stream 2 on August 22, as well as the opening of the Baltic Pipeline almost immediately after the Nord Stream pipeline explosions.

"A day later after the attacks on Nord Stream, there was the opening of the Baltic pipeline, in which Norway Denmark and Poland are involved," he said. "And why on June 22 did the Norwegian parliament grant the United States a military agreement granting it unlimited access and the use of its territory?"

"Finally, as a parliament we have a right to clarification amid this eternal silence of the federal government," he added. "It is a breeding ground for rumors and conspiracy theories. And it will also add to fear and uncertainty with the German citizens."

According to Hersh’s report, U.S. President Joe Biden ordered the Nord Stream pipelines to be destroyed last September. Hersh's undisclosed source said the plot originated in December of 2021, before the Russians even invaded Ukraine. It entailed the U.S. military and NATO ally Norway planting remote-detonated explosives on the pipelines at the joint BALTOPS 22 exercise in June. The explosives would be detonated later, in September, upon President Joe Biden's insistence, the report alleges.

“All the open questions must now be answered by investigative committees,” Chrupalla continued. “The Bundestag has a right to know what knowledge the federal government has. Could government officials have been privy to the planning of the attack?”

“All the findings of national authorities must flow together in the European Parliament.," he added. "The European states must not put up with such violent interference. They are even less allowed to participate in it.”

Sevim Dagdelen, of the Left Party (LP),  said there are “ample reasons” why the U.S. might be motivated to destroy the pipelines.

In a February 7 announcement three weeks before the Russian invasion of Ukraine President Joe Biden threatened to "end" the pipelines.

President Biden boasted, "If Russia invades... then there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it."

"But how will you do that, exactly, since... the project is in Germany's control?" a reporter asked.

"I promise you, we will be able to do that," Biden said.

That was twenty days after Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland had made a similar pronouncement.

“If Russia invades Ukraine, one way or another, Nord Stream 2 will not move forward,” Nuland said.

After the Nord Stream pipelines explosions, LSecretary of State Tony Blinken would have a strange reaction to the incident. He called it a “tremendous opportunity.”

As Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin would later tell Blinken at a Senate Hearing, that explanation “literally makes no sense.”

Senator Ted Cruz confronted Undersecretary of State Nuland at a Senate hearing in late January seeking answers on why the Biden administration wouldn't enforce sanctions on Nord Stream 2 prior to Russia's invasion.

Nuland smugly pronounced at the hearing "this administration is very gratified to know that Nord Stream 2... is now a hunk of metal at the bottom of the sea."

That’s not suspect at all.
